We have simplified the whole process of registering your vehicle. Once you obtain the Blue Slip from us, it will also come with the required forms to complete the registration. You will then be able to obtain and your pay for green slip, and visit your nearest RTA to get your vehicle registered and back on the road.
Driving an unregistered vehicle attracts on-the-spot fines ($1007 for driving uninsured and unregistered) and four demerit points. If the matter goes to court, the court can impose fines of up to $2200 for driving unregistered and $5500 for driving uninsured.
RTA advice is that the only time you can legally drive an unregistered car is to get the car registered – such as driving directly to your inspection station or to a motor registry. And you must use the most direct or convenient route.
What is a Blue Slip? What is a Pink Slip?
The Pink Slip is Road Worthy Inspection you need to renew your registration or obtaining new registration in cases where the car has been unregistered for less than 90 days. The Pink Slip (also called an E-Safety Inspection) is valid for 42 days and is basically a RTA approved roadworthiness & safety check on the most important components that insure your safety on the road.
The Blue Slip is a Road Worthy Inspection, Vehicle Identification check and Engine inspection you need for new registration if the car has been unregistered for more than 90 days, or if the car does not have NSW license plates (i.e. - bought interstate and will be used in NSW). Stated another way, a Blue Slip is a safety inspection report for unregistered vehicles, required to register a vehicle in NSW that is unregistered, has come from interstate or overseas. You may also require a Blue Slip to clear a defect or adjust records.
The Green Slip is Compulsory Third Person Insurance for the vehicle, renewed together with Rego. The Rego is your car Registration, purchased for 6-12 months at various RMS outlets and renewable after expiration.
Does my car need to be inspected?
You must have your vehicle inspected if:
• registration renewal notice tells you that an inspection is required
• you want to renew the registration on your vehicle that is more than 5 years old
• you want to register a light vehicle not currently registered in NSW
• you want to register a heavy vehicle
Answering 'Yes' to any of the points means your vehicle needs to be inspected.
